Address verification is the physical confirmation that a person actually resides, or a business actually operates, at a claimed address, performed by field visit, because every downstream remedy in lending, employment and law depends on that address being real.
Why Does One Humble Check Carry So Much Weight?
Follow any failure to its end: the absconding borrower, the vanished employee, the tenant who stopped paying, the defendant avoiding summons, every recovery path runs through an address. If the address on file was never real, every remedy built on it collapses. Address verification is unglamorous precisely because it is foundational.
What Does Professional Field Verification Establish?
A verifier at the door confirms what no database can:
- Residence reality (the person actually lives there, confirmed by neighbours if unavailable
- Nature and standing) owned or rented, family setting, duration of stay
- The permanent address behind the current one, where someone returns when things go wrong
- Business addresses, signage, activity, staff and scale versus claims
- Photographic, geo-tagged documentation for the file
Where Do Databases and Documents Fall Short?
Utility bills are rentable, Aadhaar addresses go stale and digital footprints are curated. Fraudsters invest in paperwork precisely because most institutions stop at paperwork. The field visit prices in at a few hundred rupees what litigation later fails to fix at any price.
The two-address rule: always verify the permanent (native) address alongside the current one, the current address is where someone is; the permanent one is where they can be found.
